It has been quite a while since I did my last iPad+iRig+Garageband post so I thought I'd kick it off again by having a go at St James Infirmary blues on the guitar. The aim was to add some drums this time. One reason that I chose it is that the riff has a very James Bond feel to it.

This is a track that has been covered many times but fairly recently by Hugh Laurie of all people on his blues album Let them talk. His cover is actually the track from which the opening riff in this version comes except that he did it on the piano and I used the electric guitar. Hugh is actually a pretty talented musician as well as an excellent actor.

This is a fairly rough cut, which I spend about an hour on. The mix is composed of a smart drums track and two guitar tracks: one clean combo with the defaults and the lead guitar uses crunchy blues with the output turned up slightly. No other magic - just a few pretty sore fingers now.
