Just discovered that if you try to write DLT tapes in an SDLT drive, they cannot be overwritten. This is apparantly to do with the fact that DLT tape drives have much more powerful write heads and SDLT drives cannot erase the tracks written by these heads. No idea if this is true or not but it was posted on a newsgroup.
